Travel In Sandals Traveler Profile: MICHAEL MORALES, aka MO

We want to give you a look at the four Travel In Sandals bloggers and allow you to get to know us a little better. To do so, we each answered a set of travel-related questions inquiring about our travel experiences, likes, dislikes, habits, traditions and more.

Here is a look behind the scenes at MICHAEL MORALES:

1.What do yo
u look forward to most when visiting a country or city?
No question the food and the people. I definitely love trying new cuisine from all over the world and tend to eat a lot of it. The people are a close second and I find it very interesting how similar, yet different, we all are. Does that even make sense?

2. What is something you always travel with?
Friends! What better way to explore a new place than with your pals!

3. Do you have a routine or tradition that you always do when you travel?
I always seem to pack at the very last minute. I’m a procrastinator when it comes to packing and that usually leads to heavily overpacking. Also, when I arrive at my destination no matter how long I'm staying I always take everything out of my bag.

4. If you hosted a Travel Channel show, what would the premise be?
I’m not one to watch much travel TV, so this is a difficult one for me. I guess I’d have to say something that focuses on the food and nightlife...my specialties!

5. What is a pet peeve of yours committed by other travelers?
Don’t have many of those since I’m pretty easy going and easy to get along with. I guess I’ll have to say the same as back at home...please put the toilet seat DOWN. Thanks boys.

6. Now that you’re going to Australia, how many continents have you been to?
Five...North America, South America (Brazil), Europe (Spain, Portugal, London, Amsterdam), Asia (Thailand) and now Australia. Next up...Africa. Antarctica TBD.

7. What do you splurge on when you travel? What is a must have?
Definitely the food, hands down. I will probably come back with an extra “vacation” 10 lbs...kind of like freshman year of college. Just ask the servers at the churrascarias in Brazil. I think I may have set a record for server visits (marker was always green)! SEE PHOTO.

8. What is the one thing you look forward to most when you get home?
We have to come home? That’s a bummer. Well...then I guess I’d have to say sharing all the stories and pictures with family and friends. If I can’t be there, I might as well keep talking about it. That way I can continue to live it as long as possible.

9. What is your dream travel destination?
Brazil and Australia were two of my top choices and now I’ll be able to say I’ve lived both those dreams. I guess my next dream would have to be an African safari. Planning begins on the 15 hour flight home from Down Under!!!

10. What is your favorite travel location you've been to and why?
Florianópolis, Brazil (aka Floripa). It had everything...beautiful beaches, beautiful people, great food and you could travel around the entire island on your rented scooter. Did I mention the beautiful “people”??? El Divino...Sunday nights!

11. What do you look forward to most on this upcoming trip?
Finding the spot/moment for my next biggest laugh. Through my travels I’ve had some of the funniest moments in my life that I’ve shared with close friends...like the ferry boat ride to Koh Phangan and the elephant ride in Ayutthaya! Where will the next one be???

  1. There was no mention of sweating in this profile. I'm going to have to submit a picture when I get some time.

  2. Ok you guys...Let's have at least one photo with either USC t-shirts on, a "Fight On" sign or at least some homage to rally vino! Steve and I are counting on it.
Oh yeah, I'm having lunch with your Dad on Friday, Mo.
Keep up the party and the pics!
