REVIEW - Hurricanes Grill, Bondi Beach

We hit one of Sydney's most popular BBQ spots - Hurricanes in Bondi Beach - and for old times sake we did a Matt & Mom's BBQ review. Hurricanes is extremely popular among the locals and tourists. It opened at 5pm on Saturday and it was almost completely full by 5:45pm. It didn't hurt that it was a beautiful day at the beach and nothing goes better with a sunny day and cold beer than delicious bbq grub. Here's our pics and thoughts.

Mo was aggressive with the food and the waitresses.

Greg recommended Hurricanes...huge thank you.

Here's our combined thoughts and ratings:

BBQ RATING SYSTEM:
1 - Barely edible
2 - Standard
3 - Good
4 - Very good
5 - Outstanding on every level

Sauce - 3.5 - On the sweeter side with a slight tangyness. No kick at all. It has a slight hint of Arby's sauce, which is a good thing in our opinion.

Slabs - 4.5 - Delicious...and large! The pork ribs were two or three times the size of a traditional baby back rib. The ribs are smoked for hours, dipped in the sauce and finished on the grill. However, they didn't have a tremendous amount of smokey flavor. None the less, the soft and tenderness of the meat combined with the sweet and tangy sauce and the char from the grill created a rack of ribs that we'd all come back for.

Pork and beef rib combo.

Before...
...after.

Steaks - 3 - Matt was the only one who had a steak. New York strip medium rare. Middle of the road. Definitely second fiddle to the pork ribs.

Rib and steak combo with chips.

Sides - 2 - Three of us got baked potatoes and one of us got fries, aka chips. All were good and a nice compliment to the meat, but nothing special.

Sandwiches - N/A

Waitresses - 5+
