Day 5 - Planes, Boats and Autos to Puerto Rico

Day five (Monday) was all travel.  We were up and out of Cancun at 8:30am and arrived in Fajardo, Puerto Rico at 10pm, a long day to say the least.

First, we flew from Cancun to Miami (2hrs) and had a short layover (2.5hrs).  We then jumped onto our connection and flew from Miami to San Juan (2.5hrs).  From there we rented a car and drove to the east coast of Puerto Rico to a small port town called Fajardo (1hr).

We arrived at the Fajardo Inn in the middle of a rain and lightening storm, not a good sign for our planned beach-going activities.  The rooms were hostel-esque but it did the trick for the seven hours we were there.

Three beds in a room less than a foot apart, comfy cozy!

On Tuesday, we're up bright and early to catch a ferry boat to Vieques island.

  1. If you are routed through MIA on your return, be sure to hit the La Carreta Restaurant in terminal D for amazing Cuban food...spicy beef, rice, beans, and plantains - I'm excited just typing about it. Looking forward to the next updates from Vieques island!
